Our Story
I have always loved the beauty of wood. I grew up in the Cape Cod area of Massachusetts and attended a vocational school for four years of woodworking and accrued 26-weeks a year of shop time by the time I graduated. I worked in the woodworking industry for several years and then headed out west to California to explore new opportunities. During my tenure there I worked in the entertainment events industry starting with the Telemundo television network as an event coordinator and worked my way up to sales leadership positions with several large Southern California entertainment events firms.
Fast forward several years, my wife Hollie was offered an opportunity to relocate our family from the beach in Southern California to the Seattle-area to continue working for Microsoft. This afforded me the opportunity to get back to my roots and into the woodworking industry and started a custom furniture and cabinet making business. Once I became established, I started purchasing woodworkers collection of wood that sometimes included a live edge slab or two and would resell it out of a rented heated storage locker. That’s when the idea of focusing just on live edge slabs became the spark to create Live Edge Hardwoods, LLC.
Today, we offer the largest selection of kiln-dried local and exotic wood slabs and hardwood dimensional lumber in the Pacific Northwest. We have more than 800 dry slabs on display ranging from Black Walnut and Curly Maple to Hawaiian and Costa Rican species that are ideal for dining room or conference tables, mantles, kitchen islands, coffee tables, bar tops and more. We also offer furniture design and creation as well as sawmill services on site.
In addition, we have more than 4,000 air drying hardwood slabs that we can put into our vacuum kiln for a quick turnaround.
